World Fair Trade Day - May 10, 2014

Fair Trade makes a measurable difference in the lives of women and artisans around the globe. By purchasing Dsenyo products, you are helping empower women to build a better life for themselves and their families and inspire social change in their communities. In 2013, Dsenyo conducted a social impact survey with partners in Malawi to more fully understand the impact of our work on artisans' lives. Here are some of the ways Dsenyo is committed to Fair Trade:

  • We have direct and respectful partnerships with over 100 artisans in Malawi, Zambia, and Brazil, support a network of over 500 people in their families
  • We pay artisans the equivalent of a teacher's salary, which is 3-4 times the minimum wage in countries where we work
  • We provide most materials and pay artisans upfront for our orders
  • We provide annual training workshops, which help artisans develop their skills, discover new design trends, and learn about fairtrade
  • We are committed to environmental responsibility, and use natural and local materials where possible
