Featured in Southwest Art Magazine | 09 Sep 2008

Dear Friends,

I am excited to share with you that I am featured in the September 2008 Issue of Southwest Art Magazine along with 20 other emerging artists under 31.  Each year, the publication produces an emerging artist issue called "21 Under 31" to highlight young emerging artist with bright futures.  I am honored and flattered to be included among the group.  The artists chosen are from California, Utah, Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Oregon, New Jersey and South Dakota.

The Senior Editor of the magazine, attended the opening reception for the East Boulder County Artists Studio Tour back in May of this year.  I had a series of three nudes hanging at the show which caught her eye.  After tracking me down as the artist of those pieces, she was surprised to see how young I was. Aparently, she was thinking about doing a feature in one of the magazines regular issues, but realized that I would be a better fit in their emerging artist issue!

The production department at the Southwest Art decided to publish one of my Malawian women paintings, "Collecting Water".  The photo of the artist is by Kris Saints, talented photographer and sister-in-law.

Magazines art available at the following newsstands NOW:

  • Barnes and Noble
  • Borders
  • The Boulder Book Store

Thank you for celebrating my first national publication with me!  An a HUGE thank you to all of my fellow EBCA artists for making it such a wonderful group!

Art Displayed @ Hanna's in Lafayette | 13 Jul 2008

Susan Kaiser Yurish, founder of Hanna's a catering an take-out delicatessen in downtown Lafayette, is now offering wall space to local artists.  The Lafayette Cultural and Arts Commission is asking business owners along Public Road to exhibit local art on their walls.  I was approached by the LCAC and Susan to participate in the start of what hopefully will become a long tradition of supporting art through local business.

The LCAC is quickly making a strong presence in downtown with many new projects to revitalize downtwon.  Last year they started the Lafayette film festival and now we see the Lafayette Festival Plaza underway, Art of Our Ages Banners on Public Road, and of course, art hanging on the walls of downtown businesses.  This is an exciting time to be part of the Lafayette community.  Thank you to the LCAC and Thank You to Hanna's!

Please visit Hanna's to see original charcoal sketches and a few framed giclee prints of my work hanging.  Hanna's is located at:

802 S. Public Rd Lafayette, CO

Art for a Cause website goes live! | 06 Jul 2008

This year I have been working with a group of fabulous artists to launch the First Annual Art for a Cause event!  Art for a Cause is the brain child of ceramic sculptor Jennifer Rudkin, who recruited the rest of us to team up with her for a July 25th & 26th art show and non-profit fundraiser.  This year we are spotlighting The Patchwork School a non-profit school located on Main Street in Louisville.  Please check out the website, generously designed by volunteer Keith McCurdy.

We are all extremely excited about this event and hope you can make it out to support community, education and the arts.
