Self-taught artist, Marissa Perry Saints, from Boulder, CO, holds a degree in International Studies from the University of Arizona.
In 2003, Perry taught high school history in inner-city Miami. Soon discovering that history was not her medium, she returned to the insatiable creativity of her childhood and began a painting career. She became resident artist at the Bakehouse Arts Complex and was featured in two solo exhibitions and several group shows in Miami.
During 2006, Perry lived in Malawi, Africa while her husband was on a Fulbright Grant. She developed a body of work depicting Malawian women in their daily lives, explored making egg tempera paints from natural pigments, and created educational murals with children at local schools. Perry exhibited at the Wildlife and Environmental Society of Malawi's Artfest, the largest annual art exhibition in Malawi.
Perry now lives in Lafayette, CO. She continues to explore new themes and mediums. Currently she is working on the idea of spiritual growth and the connection with nature while painting on salvaged doors.
